Goodie Bag Pick Up/Bike Drop Off - Date: Saturday February 13, 2010 - 12 noon - 4:00pm

All registrations will be in the registration tent at the venue. Registration is the process during which you pick up your goodie bag and receive all the information you need for event day. As this is your first entry to the 2010 series, you will receive a complimentary ASICS t-shirt. You will also rack your bike in transition so allow some time to familiarise yourself with the layout of the bike compound and the run and bike entry and exit points. We'll have a team of volunteers to help you! We have security looking after the bikes over night.
REAL Women's Duathlon Course Description – Orewa
Pre-Race Briefing and Marshalling Point:
The event starts at 9am. We would like all participants to be ready for the briefing and warm-up at 8:20AM. Therefore we would be happy if you arrive at the venue at around 7:45-8:00am so we can organise you all with the briefing, a warm-up and then marshal you into waves for the start.
Times are as follows:
8:20am Briefing to take place
8:35am Warm-up
8:45am Marshalling into groups by your wave number
9:00am 1st Waves start! (Note: there could be more than 1 wave starting at each interval)
Run/Walk 1 - 3.5km
We will start you off on the estuary side of Western Reserve not far from the Youth Centre and in the direction of the College
You will follow the pathway alongside the estuary all the way past the Rodney District Council buildings and take a left over the footbridge towards the College.
The footbridge has 2 sections in which you will need to make a ‘zig-zag’ around wooden barriers – great for hip flexibility!
Take a left after you cross the bridge and you will run along the side of the school fields – you will pass the exercise stations so feel free to participate!
Run the perimeter of the school fields and you will re-enter the pathway which comes out on Maygrove Drive.
Make a right turn and another right onto Riverside Rd.
Follow to the Centreway Reserve.
You will be directed across the Reserve on a trail and back through the council parking area to re-join the pathway that takes you back onto Western Reserve.
Take a left hand turn towards the transition area
Transition – run to bike
Once you enter the transition area look for the colour of your row and you will find your transition spot. Once you reach your bike look for the bike exit sign towards the Edgewater Grove side of the transition.
Please don’t mount your bike until you get to the mount line on Edgewater Grove
Bike Course - 2 x 5km loops
This bike course is totally flat and is on a good smooth road surface.
Mount your bike and take a left onto Centreway Rd. Please keep to the left of the road as others maybe coming around for the second lap of the course.
Follow Centreway Rd and take a left turn at the first roundabout onto Riverside Rd.
Follow Riverside Rd and take a left onto Maygrove Drive.
Follow this around until you take a left onto Lakeside Dr
Follow Lakeside Dr right around to Denham Way where you will take a left.
Take a left onto Hatton Rd and follow to the roundabout
Take a right onto Florence Avenue and a right at the next roundabout onto Centreway Rd.
Follow Centreway Rd right along to Weiti Rd where you will take a left
Turn right onto Milton Rd and right back onto Centreway Rd.
You have traveled 5k when you get around one loop.
Repeat the loop and take a left into Edgewater Grove
Transition - bike to run/walk
You will be asked to dismount your bike immediately after turning into Edgewater Grove. Cones and barriers will direct you into the transition. Look for the colour of your row and you will find your transition spot.
Run/Walk 2 – 1.5km
You will be directed to the run exit and across the Reserve towards the estuary and the pathway.
Turn right along the pathway (please keep left).
Follow the pathway alongside the estuary to the Rodney District Council buildings proceed to the turnaround point.
Return along the pathway (please keep left).
Turn left across the reserve where directed at the designated point.
The finish area will be out in the middle of the Reserve.
