All registrations will be in the registration tent at the venue.  Registration is the process during which you pick up your goodie bag and receive all the information you need for event day. If this is your first entry to the 2010 series, you will receive a complimentary ASICS t-shirt. You will also rack your bike in transition so allow some time to familiarise yourself with the layout of the bike compound and the run and bike entry and exit points. We'll have a team of volunteers to help you! We have security looking after the bikes over night.

REAL Women’s Duathlon Course Description – Hawkes Bay

Pre-Race Briefing and Marshalling Point

The event starts at 8:50 am. We would like all participants to be ready for the briefing and warm-up at 8:20am. Therefore we would be happy if you arrive at the venue at around 7:45-8:00 am so we can organise you all with the briefing, a warm-up and then marshal you for the start.

Times are as follows:
8:20am Briefing to take place
8:30am Warm-up #1 for duathletes
8:40am Marshalling of longer course participants into groups by your wave number
8:50am Long Course waves start
8:40 Warm-up #2 for 10km cycle duathletes
9:00am 1st Wave starts
 
Run/Walk 1 - 3.5km

Start on Hereworth Grove turn left into Simla Avenue and turn right into Te Mata Road. Stay on the footpath at all times.

At the first intersection turn left into Palmbrook Avenue and follow footpath all the way to the end of this street.  You will come to a concrete walkway and follow this straight ahead all the way until you come to the end of the Walkway.  This will take you into Woodlands Drive.
 
Follow Woodlands Drive all the way to the end and turn left into Brookvale Road staying on the footpath at all times.

Follow Brookvale Road and turn left into Guthrie Road.  Stay on the footpath at all times.

Turn right under marshal's instructions at the round about on Te Mata Road and continue on the footpath to the first street on the left which will take you back into Hereworth School grounds through the main gates.

Turn left and stay on the grass area and back into the transition.

Transition – run to bike

Once you enter the transition area look for the colour of your row and you will find your transition spot. Once you reach your bike look for the bike exit sign.

Please don’t mount your bike until you get to the mount line on the sealed road at the end of transition.

Bike Course -  10km 

This is a lovely cycle. It’s a wide safe course (but please be careful for any vehicles and other cyclists) the roads are mainly country with vineyards and orchards along the way.

Exit Tranistion and mount your bike on Hereworth Grove turn left onto Simla Avenue.

Turn right onto Te Mata Road at the roundabout. Please obey all marshal's instructions.

Stay on this road on Te Mata Road.  You will pass straight through another round about and when you come to a T intersection turn left into Te Mata-Mangateretere Road.

Follow the road to turn first left into Thompson Road.

Turn left again into Brookvale Road and follow this Road all the way, through another two  round abouts to turn left into Guthrie Road.

Proceed back to transition by turning right at the round about at Te Mata Road and left into the main gates of Hereworth School. 

20km Bike- Turn left at the round about at Te Mata Road to complete your second loop of the above course.

Transition - bike to run

You will be asked to dismount your bike when you get to the grass. Cones and barriers will direct you into the transition. Look for the colour of your row and you will find your transition spot.

Run/Walk 2 – 1.5km

Look for the run exit sign.

Proceed out of the school grounds at the same place where you mounted your bike, run on the grass to turn left into Simla Avenue, stay on the foot path.

Turn left into Te Mata Road, staying on the footpath.

Turn left into the main gate of Hereworth School.

Proceed around the field staying between the trees and the hedge to the turn around point. 

Return back around the field between the trees and the cones and proceed to the finish chute.
