The Hamilton 2010 SPARC REAL Women’s Duathlon is at the Ruakura Research centre this weekend!

If you’re a first timer to one of our REAL events, here’s some information to help you plan your weekend.  If you’re a regular – you know the schedule!

First up, you need to register on Saturday between 12 noon and 4pm in the marquee at the MIRINZ Centre Field, near the East Street entrance of the Ruakura Research Centre. You will be given all the information you need, including your wave (group) number, wave colour and start time – not to mention a fantastic goodie bag with your REAL Duathlon shirt and other great items from sponsors.  You need to bring your bike with you and we will rack it in the compound. We have a professional security company on site over night but if you want to bring a lock with you feel free to do so.  Don’t forget to ensure you have pumped up your tires – this will really help you enjoy the ride on the day.  If you are unsure about how much air to put in we can check this for you and we have foot pumps on site.

On Sunday, you need to arrive in time for the Event briefing at 8.20am. We have a great warm-up with our fantastic gym instructors and then we will marshal you into groups ready for your start at 9am.  It’s summer, and the weather for the weekend is looking good so don't forget your sunscreen!

On Saturday you can park on the perimeter of the sports field or in the designated parks in the surrounding streets.  On Sunday, please note there will be NO PARKING on the perimeter of the sports field.

We have put a participant list on the website. Take a minute to check you are on the list – all you need to do is type in your first name and surname and press search. If your name does not appear please contact us at 09 303-4412. If you are participating in a team please type your team name in the first name section.

If you are participating this weekend as a team please be aware that team members do not complete the whole event individually.  A 2 person team means one team member completes 2 legs of the event (either both run/walks or one run/walk and the cycle) and the other team member completes the remaining leg.   A 3 person team means each person completes one leg each.  So if you want to do the whole event and complete all 3 legs yourself then you need to swap to an individual entry.  You can do this at registration on Saturday – see Maria at the Help Desk.

If you haven’t already done so – it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with both the run/walk and bike courses.  Click here to view a copy of the maps.  Large maps will be on display at registration if you have any queries.

Enjoy the rest of the week.  We’re looking forward to seeing you at registration on Saturday and then on Sunday for your special day when you get to call yourself a ‘Duathlete’!

See you there!
